CARE & MAINTENANCE
Look after it, and the warranty looks after you.
The warranty asks you to maintain the product and to keep a record that you did. Neither takes long. This page is what the warranty means when it refers to the Care and Maintenance Guide.
Routine cleaning
- Wash the product down regularly with clean water. How often depends on where it is — dust, pollen and road grime build up faster on an exposed run than a sheltered one.
- Remove surface contaminants promptly rather than leaving them to sit. Anything left on the finish has longer to work at it.
- Do not use abrasives or anything that scours. The warranty covers the coating, not damage done to it during cleaning.
Near the coast
- Salt spray and airborne contaminants reach further inland than most people expect. Within roughly a mile of the coast, plan on cleaning more often than you would elsewhere.
- A monthly freshwater rinse is a sensible baseline in those locations — it stops salt building up rather than removing it once it has.
- Coastal performance is governed by the AAMA 2604 standard. Fading, staining or corrosion driven by salt or the surrounding environment is not a manufacturing defect.
Inspection
- Check the product periodically for damage and for loose fixings — gates and anything that moves most of all.
- Confirm that fasteners in contact with the aluminum are compatible with it. Copper, brass and untreated steel against aluminum invite galvanic corrosion, which the warranty does not cover.
- Deal with a loose fixing when you find it. Most of what turns into a claim started as something small that was left alone.
Keeping records
- The aluminum warranty requires a dated photograph of the product taken before each cleaning and another taken after it.
- Keep the before-and-after pair from the two most recent cleanings, replacing them each time you clean, so that a current record exists if you ever claim.
- Failure to maintain the product, or to produce these records on request, may void the warranty. A phone photograph is enough — what matters is that it is dated and that you still have it.
Maintenance is a condition of the warranty, not a suggestion. If anything here disagrees with the warranty documents, the documents apply — read them in full on the warranty page, or call (747) 466-1125 and ask.
